| A fine race. The very neat Irish crew led from the start but could never get away, and to the middle of the race both crews matched stroke-for-stroke with the distance of lead only marginally changed. But at Remenham, Thames pushed through, and although the Irish briefly responded the race was over | Leander rowed a well-judged race, taking an early lead and drawing away until they were three lengths ahead, reducing their rating from there on to win comfortably. Aberdeen chased them home, but could not get on terms |
