| Shortly after the start, number 2 in the Dutch boat lost his right scull. At the ¼ mile, he jettisoned the other one and jumped out, to be rescued by the launch. The other three continued sculling bravely, and received much applause for their effort. Maidenhead & Newark sculled well for their comfortable win | Sydney sculled skilfully, taking the lead and holding it in spite of spirited pressure from Tideway. Sydney won a well-judged race by two lengths |
