| Excellent race. As Oxford was warned along the Island for poor steering, Dortmund squeezed out to an early lead which they continued to improve on to Fawley. Thereafter Oxford fought back but had left too much to do | Both crews had a fast start with Oxford Brookes taking the lead. Dukla & Slavia pressed them hard and Oxford Brookes only had clear water at the Mile & One-Eighth. Dukla & Slavia spurted down the enclosures but Oxford Brookes held them off to win an excellent race by ¾ length |

| Dortmund rowed a well-judged race and built up a ¾ length lead by Fawley. Oxford Brookes & Molesey pressed them hard all the way and reduced their lead to 2/3 length at the finish. A great race between two top class crews, but marred by Dortmund's failure to keep to their station despite repeated warnings | |
