| Ts.S.K.A. Ukraine dominated the race from the start, showing greater power, technique and speed. University of London never gave up, and constantly attacked in an attempt to get on terms. The Ukraine squad proved too strong, and controlled the race to the finish | Thames started steadily and Molesey led at ¼ mile. At ½ mile, Thames raised their rate of sculling briefly and moved to a firm command of the race. Molesey, much the heavier quad, did not have the cohesion of their opponents |

| The Ukraine quad gave a fine display of top class sculling. They sculled to the centre at the end of the island, but returned to their station without warning. Thames kept trying but were not in the picture. Both quads negotiated a flock of geese near Fawley | |
