The Home Nations Rowing Championship returned to the 1500 metre course at Cardiff Bay on Saturday 26 July, 2008.
Racing started at 11am from the Barrage, down to the Inner Harbour. Spectators thronged the finish at Roald Dahl Plass or strolled the waterfront on the recently opened Cardiff Bay Barrage Coastal Path.
The Home International Regatta is an important event for rising stars. Olympic rower Steve Redgrave started his international career at the event. Competitors received their medals at a prize-giving ceremony after each race, with a team prize to the nation achieving the highest points at the end of the day.
For the first time the event included two races for adaptive rowers over 500 metres.
Cardiff Bay is already home to world class events including European and World powerboat and sailing championships, national events and competitive Harbour regattas.
