Henley Royal Regatta 2011

The 162nd Henley Royal Regatta ran from Wednesday 29 June to Sunday 3 July in warm, sunny conditions.

The total entry of 486 crews (505 in 2010) included 119 overseas crews (116 in 2010: the record is 126) from 15 different nations.

There were 48 crews from the USA, and Australia's largest entry with 29. They met the German men's eight (World Champions), the Polish men's quad (Olympic Champions). the Croatian men's quad (World Champions) and entries from Shandong Province, China and English Club & St Petersburgh Univ, Russia

Of the nine main trophies, five were won by British crews, two by American, and one each by Germany and the Czech Republic.

"We saw 60 seconds removed from the record books ... 40 seconds from full course records", said HRR Chairman Mike Sweeney. "33 new records: 24 equalled. Fantastic performances from fantastic crews!"
